Tamid: The Downtown Synagogue serves individuals and families in Lower Manhattan. Through innovative and contemporary prayer, dynamic and flexible learning options, and service action, we are creating a 21st Century Synagogue. Eventually, we hope to have a facility in Lower Manhattan with a sanctuary, event space, and classrooms to serve as a significant cultural, worship, learning, and meeting space for members and the entire downtown community.

Thank you Rabbi Scott for your powerful leadership on this Yom HaShaoah

The sun is setting here in the Jewish Quarter of Prague, and now with the darkness of night comes the darkness of Yom Hashoah. Before the N***s came, there were about 90,000 Jews in Prague - about 20% of the population. By the time deportations began in 1941, that number was halved and only 5,000 survived. May their memories be a blessing. 🕯

Today, Jews make up about 0.001% of the population. But the Spanish synagogue still stands behind me, and so does a budding renewed Jewish community. I'm here at their invitation to join a delegation in the Czech parliament tomorrow in honor of Yom Hashoah and where a Torah scroll will be entered into the parliament's collection. I'm honored to be a part of it.

And, on Wednesday, I've been invited to teach Torah for the community. I've only been here a few hours, but I'm already moved by the experience.
