When Bobby Steinbach’s grandfather passed away in 2006, his grandmother felt isolated and alone. She had some rudimentary knowledge of computers, able to play bridge on the home PC that her husband had bought; he set up the connection with the on-line bridge players for her. But, once he was gone she lost the connection frequently and needed help. She also wished to do more on the computer, such a

Nearly everything happens online! From booking doctor’s appointments to staying in touch with family. But for many older adults, navigating the digital landscape is overwhelming. Without basic tech skills, many seniors feel isolated, disconnected, and unable to access important services on their devices. That’s where Digital Grandparents comes in!

In 2008, Bobby Steinbach was inspired to start this nonprofit when his grandmother struggled to stay connected after losing her husband. She had basic computer skills but found it hard to manage things like email, online shopping, and staying in touch with family. Bobby’s personal experience with helping her, sparked the idea for Digital Grandparents. Now, we’re on a mission to help as many seniors as possible feel confident using technology.
