The final program for the 2026 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium, Medical Imaging Conference and Room Temperature Semiconductor Detector Symposium is now online. It includes the full schedule of oral and poster sessions, a wide selection of short courses and workshops, and special events for networking and community building.

Over seven days at the Palacio de Congresos de Granada, researchers, engineers, medical physicists, clinicians, and industry partners will meet to share the latest advances in radiation detection, instrumentation, and medical imaging.

Last week we held the "University of Osaka Hamadohri Environmental Radiation Measurements International School" in the Hamadohri province around the Fukushima reactor plant. The students learned about the different kinds radiation, half-lifes of different radioactive nuclei, and how to measure radiation. We took soil samples and analyzed them, visited the Fukushima Daiichi plant and the "Interim Storage Facility" for radioactive contaminated soil, and also met with local residents of the area who had lived through the 2011 tsunami and subsequent nuclear accident.

The conference will take place from 7-14 November at the Granada Conference & Exhibition Centre in Granada, Spain, bringing together scientists and engineers from around the world working on radiation detection, instrumentation, medical imaging, and semiconductor detector technology.

The wait is over! We are excited to announce that the official challenge for the IEEE HART HardwAIre Challenge has been revealed, and the application portal is now open.

The Challenge: Your team’s mission is to design and implement a complete wireless sensor node capable of monitoring temperature and transmitting the data to a reader system. The key requirement is that your hardware must explicitly integrate artificial intelligence—either by using AI to assist in the design process, or by incorporating AI into the operation of the prototype itself. Your solution will be judged on key performance indicators including lowest cost, minimal size and weight, lowest energy consumption, and maximum communication range. See here:

RADECS 2026 – Registration open
The local organizers welcomed the RADECS Steering Board, the Technical Committee and the Thematic workshop chairs to Prague.

At the Steering meeting, the committee got first-hand insights into the progress of the conference organization and had the chance to visit the selected venues.
At the Meld meeting, the Technical Committee met to discuss the ranking and acceptance of the reviewed abstracts, selected the best candidates for the student awards, and prepared a preliminary scientific program.
At the Thematic Workshop Dry Run we could get a glimpse into the expert presentations that will make this year's workshop a highlight of the conference.
