Security Officer Dylan Plouff lost his life while protecting others in Wisconsin. We mourn alongside Dylan's loved ones and his union siblings at . Every security officer deserves to return home to their family at the end of their shift. We won't stop fighting for better protection and higher standards for this critical work.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our fellow union member, Dylan Plouff, on May 22, 2026. Mr. Plouff served as a security officer at the MacArthur parking structure under the Milwaukee County Courthouse.
On May 18, 2026, Mr. Plouff encountered a suspect attempting to enter vehicles in the lot. During the encounter, he was attacked and transported to the hospital, where he tragically passed away from brain injuries four days later. As his aunt, Nicky Horn, stated: he was "just trying to do his job."
No worker should lose their life while on duty. SEIU WI stands with Mr. Plouff’s wife, four children, and his entire family in demanding greater measures to ensure the safety of all workers in downtown Milwaukee.
The essential work performed by our members—including security officers, janitors, CNAs, maintenance, and food service workers—is too often overlooked. We must demand more from employers, business owners, and government officials to ensure that every member is treated with the respect and protections they deserve.
