Residents for Sane Trash Solutions

Residents for Sane Trash Solutions East Harlem and Yorkville communities opposing the city's plans to build a trash processing facility at East 91st Street and the East River.

The City Council recently allocated $245 million to construct a new ten-story solid waste processing plant on the site of the former Marine Transfer Station (MTS), adjacent Asphalt Green, the East River Esplanade and Carl Schurz Park and 280 feet from the largest Public Housing complex in New York City. The new plant - larger than any existing or planned facility in the City - would operate 24 hours a day, six days a week.
