“My foster mom was away last week and I was hoping when she came home, I could surprise her and tell her someone wanted to adopt me. I had it all planned. I would let those other 2 dogs, go say hi to her first. And then when she looked for me, I would break every rule she spent months teaching me. I would run really fast and charge her, jumping on her and giving out one big bark. She would be so confused, thinking I was being incredibly rude and naughty. Until she found out the reason for my craziness!
But when she walked in the door, all I could do is wag my tail, and give one little hop, while calmly walking to her to say hello, just like I’ve been taught. Because another week went by and no one has even asked about me.
My name is Oliver. I’m a 2 year old Feist mix and I love people, kids, other dogs and today I found out I’m afraid of kittens.
Everyone who meets me says I’m such a good boy! My foster family has never heard me growl. If someone comes to the door, I will give 2 or 3 very deep barks, but when my foster mom tells me “quiet” I know I don’t have to protect her anymore. I love my crate and it’s left open for me so I can take naps and breaks in it. When my foster family goes out, the door to the crate gets closed, but I don’t mind and I’ll curl up and sleep until someone comes home. I can sleep overnight in a crate without an issue either, but my foster family has a dog bed in their bedroom so I sleep in there with the other dogs. I won’t even go on furniture, unless you invite me to.
Oh no!! You guys didn’t find out about ……….. the pillow, did you?
I’m so embarrassed. Last week I was laying on the living room floor while my foster mom was busy and a pillow from the couch was on the floor. I know, I know, I can pretend all I want that I got confused and thought it was a dog toy, but that would be an outright lie. Because I was fully aware that I was not supposed to chew it. In my defense, it smelled really good, not like my dog toys. So I thought if it smells good, it might taste good. So I licked it. I should have stopped. But I didn’t. And the last thing I remember is being surrounded by a pile of white cotton fluff.
Anyway, I don’t want to talk about the lowest point in my life with HAAR.
I keep hearing that people don’t like black dogs and cats. There’s even something called Black Dog Syndrome. WTF? Black dogs are the BEST! First of all, we don’t look dirty! Those white fluffy dogs walk past a puddle and they’re a hot mess. I can roll in mud and still look the same!!! My black fur will match any decor in your home! And you can accessorize with leashes because every color looks good on me! You can wear dark colors because my hair won’t show up on it! Think what you will save on lint rollers! And the best part is you can easily find me in the snow OR the sand!! So if you live in the mountains or a beach, we’re good!! I like the city and love walking down the street, but I also like it where it’s quiet and we can have walks all alone. I like to play, but when the other dogs or my foster mom has had enough, I go lay down. I don’t need crazy exercise, but if you want to go hiking, I would love that, too!
If you’re not looking for the perfect dog, please share this and maybe somebody will see it who wants me to be their baby.
