Director of the Kfar Azza Foundation, Alon Futterman, joined us and local synagogues to talk about his efforts to rebuild one of the Israeli kibbutzim that was devastated in the October 7, 2023 attack. Kfar Azza lost 62 people, and 19 were taken hostage. Alon's efforts have helped reopen the kibbutz and keep it a thriving community. UJA-Federation of New York JCCA

Last night, on September 30, the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY) and the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood (The Y) came together to celebrate Fiesta Sukkot, bringing the Jewish holiday of Sukkot into conversation with Hispanic Heritage Month.

Our newly constructed sukkah at the Y welcomed elected officials, representatives from the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes, UJA-Federation of New York, community leaders, neighbors, and friends, all coming together to celebrate, rejoice, and strengthen the bonds that make our city so special.

Together, we shared a vision of New York City as a welcoming and wonderful place, a city where diverse cultures, such as Jewish and Latino communities can come together with respect, joy, and a shared sense of belonging.

The evening was a beautiful reminder that when we gather, celebrate one another, and build bridges across communities, we embody the very best of NYC.

Chag Sameach and ¡Feliz Fiesta!
