Dear Team,

Greetings from the Applied Theatre India (ATI) Foundation.

We are pleased to formally announce that registrations are now open for the International Applied Theatre Residency, a 12-day residential, practice-based programme to be held in Goa, India from 15–26 February 2027.

This residency brings together a carefully curated national - international cohort of applied theatre practitioners, educators, researchers, and postgraduate students for an immersive and intercultural learning experience. The programme combines intensive workshops, collaborative labs, reflective practice, and structured engagement with diverse contexts, with a strong emphasis on ethical facilitation perspectives in applied theatre.

Designed as a high-quality international experiential learning opportunity, the residency supports the development of transferable facilitation skills, intercultural competence, and context-responsive practice relevant to education, social development, and organisational learning.

We warmly invite your institution to consider:

Nominating faculty or postgraduate students

Circulating this opportunity within relevant departments

Exploring institutional collaboration or mobility pathways

Supporting participants through professional development or internationalisation funds

The programme fee is structured to include tuition, accommodation, meals, and local programme-related logistics, ensuring clarity and accessibility for institutional planning.

A detailed Concept Note and Fees & Practical Information document are attached for your review. We request you to kindly update this on your website and it would be of great help if you could also share this with all the members of Theatre Without Borders.

We look forward to welcoming participants from your organization to Goa in February 2027.

Warm regards,

Kaustubh Bankapure

More than 20 years later Theatre Without Borders continues to connect artists around the world. Our grassroots, volunteer organization is worth exploring through our website https://theatrewithoutborders.com/mission-values/ and through our network. Bennington College students have been part of our network for years.

Bennington alumna Anne Pötzsch from Germany says, “TWB builds connections between artists and theatre institutions, opening new chances for transnational associations. It is more important than ever to seek this peaceful intercultural exchange across borders, as it opens essential opportunities to foster a diverse and engaging global community of artists.”

Minneapolis native Timmy Torinus explains, "The forces that seek to keep us divided depend on an inability to communicate. They depend on a fear of difference, and an inherent belief that cross-cultural collaboration is simply an impossibility. TWB seeks to tear down the walls that exist between us, and build a theatre that is unified, rather than fractured by completely arbitrary man-made borders. TWB seeks to transform the theatre in just the way that we should all seek to transform the world, at large."

Maverick Yarger at Bennington says, “TWB is relevant in 2026 because it provides a space for theater artists to find a global community at all levels of their careers. Community is essential to theater, as well as the time we are living in, inspiring people to create work and bring change.”

Bennington alumni Jacob Sanders writes, “In a time of political and social upheaval throughout the world, TWB provides artists with a stable network where they can share their ideas, form lasting connections, and work together to address issues facing not only the modern theatre scene, but the whole world in general.”

And current Bennington student Hannah Clopper says, “When turmoil abounds, connection is vital for artists and activists to be able to continue their important work. Through TWB, these connections can be forged and made stronger, giving artists the social support necessary to weather any trouble.”

Mission & ValuesTWB is a global, all-volunteer, grass-roots and virtual network of individual artists around the world who are interested in supporting international theatre exchange.TWB advocates for theatre artists who see themselves as members of a global community, as well as citizens of their r...

Open to presenters nationwide, the Performing Arts Global Exchange is an annually curated roster of international performing artists selected to tour to communities across the United States.
Each year, a country or region is featured with a selection of artists across multiple disciplines. The program provides fee support directly to nonprofit presenters programming artists from the roster, and presenters host both public performances and community engagements in achieving the program’s goals of cultural exchange and understanding. PAGE will support tours of performing artists from Morocco and South Africa in the 2025-26 performance season.
Presenting international artists offers an opportunity to engage in the rich diversity of cultural expression throughout the world, but it also requires resources that aren’t always available. Travel expenses, visas, and routing are often barriers to presenting international artists, especially in the U.S.’s more remote communities. PAGE seeks to ease some of those burdens for U.S. presenters by working with international curators to identify a region’s most exciting, tour-ready artists and provide grant support to bring them to the U.S.
