(Next Dor NYC will be on hiatus until Fall 2013. Read on to find out the details!)
Welcome back - we hope you all had wonderful summers!
As you know, our efforts over the past two years have been - beyond a wonderful way to meet you and do some great community building and programming - part of a pilot initiative to learn about what young Jews in their 20s and 30s are looking for in terms of Jewish engagement. Next Dor NYC has been a very successful experiment, and thanks to all of you, we learned a lot in these two years that will help many communities around the country create meaningful relationships for Jews in our age group. Next Dor NYC will be on hiatus this coming year as we sift through all we've learned and we hope to be able to return with an expanded program in the future!
In the meantime, we encourage you to check out the many great Jewish things happening around town. For ideas, click on this link to the NY Federation's website: http://www.ujafedny.org/emerge, which has a comprehensive list of organizations and happenings around the city. They also have plenty of professionals on staff in their Emerging Leadership department who can advise you on how to get involved. You can also reach out to Rabbi Jessica Zimmerman, the Director of Congregational Engagement who oversees of all of the Next Dor efforts, at [email protected].
Though Next Dor NYC won't be offering any programs this year, we would love to stay in touch, either just to say hi, or to answer questions you have about Jewish life in in New York. This email address will become inactive after the High Holidays, but feel free to reach out to Allie at [email protected], or Greg at [email protected].
Wishing each of you a shanah tovah u'metukah - a sweet and happy new year!
Allie and Greg
