7,400+ unreached people groups still have little or no access to the gospel. That can feel like a faraway problem, but here’s what changes everything: an estimated 180+ of those unreached people groups now call North America home.
This past International Day for the Unreached, Global Gates issued a simple challenge: ? Step outside. Slow down. Pray for the people right in front of you.
One man shared with us that he took that challenge and prayer walked his neighborhood for the first time. He knew of a handful of refugee families living nearby, but he’d never really paused to pray for them. As he walked, he was moved by the simple reality that behind each door were real people with real stories. “People God uniquely created. People He desires to know Him.”
Afterward he reflected, “It was good to pause, to shake up my regular routines, and to be reminded of the power of prayer. Sometimes going through the motions of the day, I miss the whole point, to further God’s mission and kingdom.”
You can do this too. Wherever you are, take a prayer walk this week. Slow down and ask God to help you see who He sees. Smile at your neighbors. Learn their names. Let the people around you become more than background noise.
The mission field isn’t always far away. Sometimes it’s just outside your front door. Will we see them?
