We've had a wonderful update from Sarah, our Guardians of the Forest - Youth Rangers coordinator:
"The Youth Ranger programme was co-designed in 2019 with rangers and teachers in the Leseur Eco System, Sumatra and has reached countless children and young people in Sumatra (Indonesia), Cabrera Entrada (Dominica Republic) Kenya, Nairobi and Zimbabwe. The impacts have been huge for not only children, young people and their communities but the wildlife surrounding the villages.
On the eve of international women day 2024, The Zuri Awards stage was filled with celebrating extraordinary women to witness their triumphs, their grace, and their unwavering spirits in the various community initiatives in their respective counties.
Nusrat Muhammed who is the lead facilitator for the Guardians of the Forest Youth Rangers programme is being awarded in the category of education for the One Health concept - Youth Rangers Guardians of the Forest program at Pwani Animal Welfare Community based organization.
There was over 1000 submissions, 200 nominees and eventually 15 awards were given to extraordinary women in the community for delivering amazing work to communities.
The Zuri Foundation provides a platform for nominees to showcase their community projects to the external world and creating a gender equal world by actively choosing to broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women achievements.
Zuri Awards is a platform under the Zuri Foundation in Kenya and was founded in 2017 to recognise, celebrate, and support unsung exceptional women in Kenya dedicated to creating positive change through work in their communities while inspiring others through exceptional displays of leadership, rising against all odds, and being courageous in the face of adversity.
Our congratulations to all the amazing, strong women who were a part of the Zuri Awards journey."
