The Platform Group

The Platform Group Our mission is to create work that excites, inspires and provides a place to stand on.

The stories of today’s audiences are filled with a strong need for community, and the artists of our time are left trying to fill that need. We are left to compete with technology, short attention spans, and ourselves. The Platform Group was formed in early 2010 as a call to action by Artistic Director Shara Ashley Zeiger. Our mission is to create work that challenges, inspires and provides a place to stand on. We seek to elevate our audiences and our creators.

5,000!!!!!! It's amazing when creative work finds new homes, and avenues and audiences. When I wrote JOE I had no idea it would have the kind of traction it does. I had no idea it would find homes on Amazon, TUBI, and now we are LIVE on Omeleto, one of the BIGGEST and most well regarded platforms for Award Winning Short Films in the WORLD. Not only that, we are only a few watches away from 5 thousand views!!! And we JUST launched! Help it get traction. If you have not seen it, please give it a watch. It will give you all the feels. Please leave a comment and like (sure here so others see my post), but ALSO on the Youtube video itself. Those likes and comments on the actual video are gold for the algorithm and help tell Youtube and Omeleto that people want this and will help it get seen by more people. If you have seen it, please just play it in the background and give us a like and a comment. Our audiences mean the WORLD to us. This is a proof of concept for a series. If you liked JOE, and want to know what happens next, help us get some eyeballs. Cheers to my amazing collaborators! Congrats to YOU for all of your beautiful work, and cheers to more people getting to see it. It still lives on friends.

"Roughly Speaking" is a gritty play extremely near and dear to my heart. There is a lot of heart. It's a very New York play. It's very diverse. It took a long time to write it, produce a production of it and now to get it published. It's a great read. There are some solid scenes for actor scene work as well as wonderful audition monologues. It would mean the world if you'd pre-order a copy. They're only $10.95 and the pre-sale numbers really help it get on shelves in some important places. If you're the type of person who likes to buy plays or are looking for a new monologue or want to support me and my work, I'd super appreciate it.

Many years ago I spent years gathering over 200 interviews from the guests of one of NYC's biggest soup kitchens in Chelsea. I wove together a script that I was incredibly proud of. I raised money and gathered the most beautiful people to do readings and put on a production that got wonderful reviews.

A producer saw our production and I went down a path developing the show further for them to bring it to a bigger Off-Broadway run. It wound up not working out. Years passed. We had a pandemic. I wound up putting the show on the "New Play Exchange." A playwright friend suggested that I submit the play to their publisher.

I had never had anything of mine published before.

Well.... the current script of Roughly Speaking was picked up by Next Stage Press!

It will officially be available in October 2025 in print, as well as available for licensing. I am officially a published playwright!

As a creative who is constantly feeling imposter syndrome and feeling the constant rejection of our crazy industry, this was a HUGE win.
