Belize has lost one of its distinguished legal minds with the passing of attorney Georgia Brown Gillett, a respected lawyer, patriot, and public servant whose career was marked by excellence and service.
The daughter of the late Sir George Noel Brown, former Chief Justice of Belize, Georgia built an accomplished career in immigration and international law while proudly representing Belize as Counsellor at the Embassy of Belize in Washington, D.C. She also served as President of the Belize Association of Florida, where she became a well-known and admired figure within the Belizean-American community, which will especially mourn her loss. A dedicated supporter of the George Brown Foundation, she also helped advance educational opportunities for young footballers in Belize.
She is survived by her son, Joshua Gillett, her mother Eleanor Williams Brown Pearson, her sisters Kim Pearson and Kristy Pearson, and a wide circle of family, friends, and colleagues in Belize and the United States. Georgia Brown Gillett will be remembered for her unwavering love for Belize, her legal excellence, and her lifelong commitment to serving others. May she rest in peace.
