On August 23rd, please come take part in a special collaborative fundraiser for flood relief efforts in Japan. Under the group name, JACC (Japanese American Community Coalition), JAA is joining with HAA. Hoshuko Alumni Association, JET Alumni Association of New York (JETAANY), JMSA: Japanese Medical Society of America, U.S.-Japan Council, The New York Japanese-American Lions Club and JACL - New York Chapter to hold this event which will feature tastings of Japanese food and spirits at a downtown restaurant. Consulate General of Japan in New York also supports this event. 100% of net proceeds will go to JAA’s Japan Flood Relief Fund. This will then be allocated to nonprofits helping those in western Japan who have been suffering from historic rainfalls and landslides this summer.

Japanese-inspired hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Chef John McCarthy, and premium sake, wine, and beer will be served (included in the price of admission). There will also be a mini silent auction.

Location: OKA, 439 3rd Avenue (between 30th-31st Streets)

JMSA was awarded the Friends of JASSI Award at the annual benefit dinner of JASSI (Japanese American Social Services, Inc) for its role in supporting JASSI throughout the years. JASSI is a NPO which provides free bilingual social services to people in need living in the New York area. Pictured here is Ms. Mochizuki, the President of JASSI presenting the awards to JMSA's President Dr.Anzai and Ambassador Reiichiro Takahashi, who also received the Friends of JASSI award during the event. The event was attended by JMSA board members.
