This past Sunday, the annual Andrew’s Army Jets game event was attended by 105 generous and caring people.
It’s time to officially recognize the efforts and kindnesses of my nephew Christopher Curreri.
Chris has done an outstanding job in organizing this event from inception.
We are all so grateful to Chris for his hard work and dedication to the cause.
He has been most ably assisted from the outset by Matt and Greg Dicembri also my much loved nephews.
The Accardi family is forever grateful.
The money raised by event, such as these have advanced significantly, the survival rate of children with neuroblastoma.
In fact, Dr. Maris has assured me that the advances his lab has made would have made Andrew’s survival possible.

Today is a very sad day for all of us here in the Andrew’s Army family.
On September 5 th 2009 , a wonderful man with a heart of gold passed away after a brief and difficult battle with cancer.
Rich Mitarotondo was a founder and guiding light in starting Andrew’s Army.
He brought with him the resources of a lifetime of kindness and generosity as well his many , many friends and family to bear.
Rich was so well regarded that this single event brought in $125K to initiate a now $1.5 million charity to help find a cure for Andrew’s neuroblastoma.
He was very much loved by Andrew and the feeling was mutual.
At Rich’s funeral, friends and family were asked to write down their fondest memory of him. His daughter, Amy, sent us Andrew’s memory a few years ago, which he deemed “one of the best days of his life”. Because Andrew’s Army was so important to Rich, his family asked for donations in memory of him that day. If you would like to celebrate Rich’s life today, please consider donating at the link in our bio.
We love both Andrew and Rich and miss them so much.

In October of last year, Andrew’s Army was able to donate $90,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Andrew’s dad, Frank, visited with Andrew’s doctor, John Maris, and his researchers. They have made significant advancements in understanding neuroblastoma and were very grateful for our sizable donation (thanks to all of you!). Today marks Andrew’s 32nd birthday and we hope you all take a moment to reflect with him in mind. He always appreciated the little things in life- and we hope today you do too. If you would like to donate to the cause, please use the new link in our bio! Happy birthday, Andrew! 🎈

To the Andrew’s Army Family

This month on October 31 st will be the eleventh anniversary of Andrew’s passing after 15 years of battling cancer with remarkable bravery when he finally succumbed.
Many of you will be receiving a memory card from Ellen Accardi, who marks each passing year with a story about his long battle.
Her vow was to never ever let him be forgotten.

After many years as the treasurer of the Andrew’s  Army fund to support neuroblastoma research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Ms. Maura Reilly has turned over that position to the Accardi family.
We cannot thank Maura  and her late husband Rich Mitarotunda , a cofounder of the Andrew‘s army Fund for all the hard work and support over these many years.

We are making plans to reorganize Andrew’s fund ,to broaden our base of support ,to increase AA visibility and to work more closely with  Dr John Maris and CHOP development to provide funds and updates on the research and progress that our AA community sponsors.

This month is always a tough one for our growing family of Ellen Frank,Ian ,Andrea ,Teddy,Jack,Christine,Caroline and Joseph.
Please consider a gift to Andrew‘s army this month especially.
