Empire Mentorship Initiative

Empire Mentorship Initiative The Empire Mentorship Initiative specializes in developing one to one relationships between qualified adults and youth who want and need a fun mentor!

The Empire Mentorship Initiative is a program committed to connecting healthy and trusting adults with youth across the state for the purpose of impacting their lives in a positive way. On January 4th a young man 16 years old was mentored by an older gentleman to go and "handle his business" and then gave the young man a gun. The young man used the gun to shoot 16 year old Raphael Sadonte Ward. Th

e first murder victim of 2013 was a young person who suffered from another young person's lack of positive mentorship. It happened in the Lower East Side of New York City. We provide the opportunity for adults within the inner city communities to consistently connect with young people in their neighborhood for one hour a week for a one year commitment. At no charge, we provide training for adults to reach young people before they become a statistic! We invite you to be part of the Empire Mentorship Initiative, remembering Raphael “Sadonte” Ward.

Remembering 9/11

Vision Urbana Teens born after 9/11 share what this date means to them at NBC Studios! Teens were selected from our nationally recognized Empire Mentorship Initiative and local Teen Center Film program to provide their perspectives to an online audience captured in 30 Rockefeller Center with a complete tour of the Studios afterwards to inspire their young minds to achieve digital and media greatness!

Our teens know Vision Urbana was part of the relief efforts during 9/11 in helping serve hundreds of Hispanic youth and families affected by this disaster and are continuing to honor the legacy of servanthood in Vision Urbana.
