DreamBx DREAM! Dare to Revitalize Education thru Arts & Mediation In 2014, the organization changed its name from CTM DREAMS to DREAM! and received its 501c3.

(Dare to Revitalize Education through Arts & Mediation) is a community based non profit organization whose mission is to develop interactive, experiential, culturally competent trainings that use the power of theater, media arts, music, and the imagination to communicate the skills of restorative practices, mediation, and nonviolent responses to conflict. The organization’s founder, Ms. Aisha Norr

is, has been a tireless advocate of non-violence among youth in multiple agencies, including Mass Transit Street Theater (a 45 year old, progressive political theater). Aisha’s leadership over 8.5 years of Mass Transit’s Safety with Dignity project led to a merger of the Safety With Dignity program and DREAM! In the merger, Safety with Dignity has become the first full-fledged program of DREAM!, while maintaining its mission, programs, school relationships, staffing, administrative structure, and funding. The merger added to Safety with Dignity, DREAM!’s team of talented young Bronx and Harlem media artists (now trained as peer-mediation Assistant Trainers), as well as, the support of the DREAM! Board of Directors and Advisors. www.dreambx.org

Your legacy is only as great as your impact. Gordon Parks revolutionized an entire industry with his bold, confronting photography. Each image was curated with intention, highlighting the strength of Black culture as we navigated segregation while simultaneously celebrating the beauty of being Black. This Black History Month, DREAM! honors Gordon Parks for being the blueprint—demonstrating how to use art to capture moments in time that you truly have to see to believe.

Our All-Star Peer Mediators have many pathways and passions that inspire them to become their best selves. Kristen is one of those leaders. Her resilience shows in the way she chooses to show up for herself and for her peers every day.

At DREAM!, we measure impact by listening to our students. Their testimonies help us understand what’s working and where growth is happening in real time - and we’re excited to do it all over again in 2026!

Through consistent support and effective methods, DREAM! creates a stable ecosystem that nurtures student growth, connecting young people to the tools and resources they need to thrive well beyond their high school years.

Growth Happens Together - and the DREAM! team would like to say thank you to all of YOU who make this work possible!
Real change happens through the power of community and care. Gifts at every size have supported this last year of preventative and restorative work to keep our young people centered on the path to the lives they deserve.
Thank you for believing in our young people and our mission to meet them where they are - supporting them as they rise into leadership, agency, and ownership of their own stories. Happy Holidays!

Growth in Action - that’s what we see every time our MAPS students sit down at the chessboard. In our MAPS program, chess is more than just a game; it’s a powerful tool for practicing strategy, patience, and self-awareness. As students learn to think a few moves ahead, they also learn to pause, recognize their emotions, and turn conflict into an opportunity for thoughtful decision-making and growth.

Everyone has emotions - but managing anger during conflict can make or break you. Watching our students build these skills throughout the year reminds us just how transformative this work can be.

As our year-end campaign continues, we’re celebrating the real growth unfolding in our classrooms: young people strengthening their confidence, deepening their conflict-resolution skills, and stepping into leadership with clarity and compassion. We’re grateful for supporters at every level of giving who help this growth take root and thrive. 🌱

Growth Happens Here - in our students, our programs, and the community that stands with them in this movement to build restorative cultures where youth can lead with kindness, collaboration, and peace. As we close out the year, we’re filled with gratitude for everyone who makes that growth possible.

This year, we interviewed our Making Action Plans for Success (MAPS) students before and after their journey - and their transformation was unmistakable. Their confidence, creativity, and capacity to navigate conflict deepened, reflecting the growth happening across DREAM! as an organization.

Thank you to everyone who has nurtured this work and to those who will join us this month in preparing for another year of incredible impact. You are all part of the foundation we’re building together.

With the right tools, there is nothing we can’t create!  Hands-on artmaking builds the creativity, communication skills, and trust that empower our students to navigate conflict, find their voice, and thrive. Watch as they dare to DREAM! - showcasing their personal style and unique razzle dazzle through their own jewelry designs.

When our students tap into the deeper meaning behind their works of art, they gain inspiration and connection to imagination, culture, and emotion. As they build confidence in their vulnerability and their voice, our students learn that feelings are powerful and moving - a strength, not a weakness.

DREAM! helps young artists channel this power into effective storytelling - bridging the gap between artist and audience. While expressing their POV, our students are able to transform each piece from the ordinary into something meaningful and memorable for their audience.

Huge thank you to The Oliver Legacy Academy for hosting this art workshop with our students.

Exposure is the birth of artistry. 🎨

The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation recently welcomed DREAM! MAPS students into their inspiring space - dedicated to spreading awareness of emerging and self-taught artists. This beautiful introduction helped students stretch their own imaginations and brought them into the context of a curated gallery, exposing them to other possible pathways in the arts.

After engaging the works of art with curiosity and introspection, our students expressed how they could see themselves reflected back - through their own poetry, written statements, or by re-creating an inspired piece of art. Like a mirror held up to the soul, Social and Emotional Learning through the arts helps young people build connections with themselves and others in an incredibly divisive world - allowing them to find pieces of themselves in people and places everywhere.

Maturity is realizing that not every disrespect deserves a reaction. Our Peer Mediators learn to lead with self-awareness and self-regulation, pausing to reflect rather than reacting on impulse. Issues can escalate quickly, but with the right tools, we can move toward solutions just as fast.

This year’s Summer Showcase highlighted the personal strengths and stories of our MAPS and YEB students. A multi-media curation of works was at the heart of this exhibit - a collective display of their transformation this summer. We expected the exceptional and boy did they deliver! Swipe through and tell us which piece speaks to you. 🎨🎭
