The OLC launched in 2016 by Fabien Cousteau, the eldest grandson of the legendary ocean explorer, Jacques Cousteau to address the environmental issues facing the earth’s waters. The mission is to raise awareness, educate, and inform all citizens of the world of ways to protect and preserve our planet’s waters, coastal areas, and endangered marine habitats. Fabien’s upbringing in the early days of
ocean conservation and his passion for protecting our waters will enable this generation and the next not to forget the impact they can have on our future, and how battling the issues that affect our oceans should now be part of everyone’s agenda. The OLC believes that by providing the knowledge and discovery of new technologies for ocean preservation, they can create a system of educational programs that will also be tied to taking action and providing activities for youth and adults to participate. The programs will be centered around ocean conservation and restoration of marine life and habitats. By creating a portfolio of multiple programs and projects our goal is to be a catalyst for youth and the general population to act now, because we will not get a second chance. While The Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center is a global organization, it will provide activities and programs on a local level across a variety of locations and geographic areas that are in need of protection and action to restore our waters and their ecosystems. The goal is to engage local communities to take ownership of key initiatives and for this to happen around the globe.
