On Thursday, August 6th, @ 6 PM, will be our 25th edition of ‘Dialogues’, in partnership with Queens Botanical Garden, the organization’s signature performance-and-conversation series hosted by Founding Artistic Director and Pulitzer Prize winner Tania León.
This program features three Queens-based composers whose work reflects a rich range of global influences and musical traditions. Born in Malaysia and raised in Japan, Masatora Goya creates music that explores drama, space, emotion, and memory, earning recognition from the American Composers Forum as a “composer of cultural crossroads.” Sri Lankan-born Australian composer Nirmali Fenn (Nirmali Fenn) draws on a life in motion to create works that explore the idea of home, with recordings praised for their emotional depth and sculptural fluidity. Colombian-born Andrés Jiménez, known professionally as Dilemastronauta (DILEMASTRONAUTA),blends electronic, tropical, and experimental sounds into his genre-defying “Tropical Futuristic” music, shaped by more than 25 years as an artist in New York.
