Presenter Partner Alert! Tomorrow, at The Jazz Gallery, composer and pianist Jonathan Paik (jonathan_paik) will present “FUGITIVE” (FUGITIVE) in its 4th year of existence!

FUGITIVE enters its fourth year with the release of its debut album, “Live at The Jazz Gallery”. Captured in a single live set, the album moves fluidly between psychedelic instrumental solos, driving rap verses, hypnotic chants, and deep searching ballads. At its core, FUGITIVE pulses with a mysterious urgency in “answer to the problem of how to play through life: together, all the time”.

On Tuesday, August 11th, composer Pablo Santiago Chin will be part of our IMPACT Series!

Chin’s recent music often draws inspiration from the narratives of film and literature, phonetic structures in text, and the use of idiosyncratic transcription methods that enable imaginative exploration of pre-existent musical sources.

IMPACT is a digital initiative by Composers Now that amplifies the voices of living composers and deepens public understanding of their creative journeys. Launched during the pandemic, IMPACT was designed to offer an intimate, virtual space where composers reflect on their artistry, influences, and responsibilities in an ever-evolving world.

Tune in on our Youtube Channel @ 7:00 PM EST on August 11th to learn more about his musical journey!

On Thursday, August 6th, @ 6 PM, will be our 25th edition of ‘Dialogues’, in partnership with Queens Botanical Garden, the organization’s signature performance-and-conversation series hosted by Founding Artistic Director and Pulitzer Prize winner Tania León.

This program features three Queens-based composers whose work reflects a rich range of global influences and musical traditions. Born in Malaysia and raised in Japan, Masatora Goya creates music that explores drama, space, emotion, and memory, earning recognition from the American Composers Forum as a “composer of cultural crossroads.” Sri Lankan-born Australian composer Nirmali Fenn (Nirmali Fenn) draws on a life in motion to create works that explore the idea of home, with recordings praised for their emotional depth and sculptural fluidity. Colombian-born Andrés Jiménez, known professionally as Dilemastronauta (DILEMASTRONAUTA),blends electronic, tropical, and experimental sounds into his genre-defying “Tropical Futuristic” music, shaped by more than 25 years as an artist in New York.
