Today we’re celebrating 10 years of same-s*x marriage being legalized nationwide in the United States! It’s a special and important day, one of joy and gratitude but also perseverance. Loving v. Virginia paved the way for Obergefell v. Hodges, and was even cited in the ruling. But equality in marriage is still under attack today. Loving Day is committed to supporting everyone’s right to love and marry regardless of race or s*x, and will continue to educate all on how we got these rights so we never take them for granted.

There are now between 820,000 and 930,000 same-s*x married couples — up from 390,000 in 2014, according to various reports.

Happy Juneteenth! Today, we celebrate 160 years since the last enslaved individuals in the United States were informed of their freedom 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth was an inspiration for Loving Day, and each year we take the time to reflect on the power of this day. Juneteenth is a reminder that justice and freedom require our effort, dedication, and protection. As we honor the resilience and resistance of those who came before us, may their legacy continue to ignite hope and drive us toward a brighter future for all.

isn’t just a date. It’s a legacy of resilience, resistance, and the ongoing pursuit of true freedom.

We don’t just remember what was delayed.

We celebrate how far we’ve come. We honor the power we carry.

Today, we celebrate freedom.

During an emotional US election, California voted to protect the right of marriage regardless of s*x or race. This declaration of love and acceptance shows the world that marriage is a fundamental human right. However, almost 40% voted no, reminding us of the work we all must do to fight racism through education, create visibility, and build community.
