The Board of Directors of the IACC met last Wednesday, 1 December. We had a lively discussion on how to take forward the IACC, particularly in the light of COVID. We also thanked Jón Sigurdsson, CEO of Össur, who chaired this last meeting after 9 distinguished years of service and welcomed Margrét Hardardottir, Managing Director of Lateral Investment Management as incoming Chair.

Really good discussions had and connections made last Wednesday, December 1st, at the IACC’s networking breakfast at Scandinavia House. We were also able to express thanks to outgoing Chair of the Chamber, Jón Sigurdsson, President and CEO of Össur and to welcome incoming Chair Margrét Harðardóttir, Managing Director at Lateral Investment Management, LLC.

We are venturing outside (literally) and would be very happy if our IACC members could join the Nordic Chambers of Commerce on October 27th at Yankee Stadium for a networking event and a good old fashioned soccer game when the NYCFC takes on Chicago Fire FC.

If the stars align we will be watching the Icelandic National Midfielder Guðmundur (Gudi) Þórarinsson take to the pitch with his Nordic teammates Malte Amundsen (Denmark) and Anton Tinnerholm (Sweden).

We are planning to meet for a networking gathering in a reserved space in the AT&T lounge at 6pm before kick-off which will be at 7:30pm. More details on price and registration can be found in the invite below

The Icelandic Economy - Q3 2021

"Overall, Iceland has been successful in the fight against COVID-19 with vaccinations all but finished while all domestic restrictions have been lifted. Therefore, and because tourism is getting back on its feet, several indicators, including consumer sentiment and card turnover, point to a faster recovery than in most forecasts. However, uncertainty is high, and the number of COVID-19 cases have recently been rising again."
