From student ➝ mentor ➝ professional. 🔥

Meet Dairelin Escolastico, a 3x graduate of FamilyCook’s CHEF program. She joined us three years ago through our community partner, Brotherhood Sister Sol’s Teen Battle Chef program and she never stopped rising.

✨ Year 1: Led food demos at her local farmers market
✨ Year 2: Became a peer mentor in our CHEF workforce development program
✨ Year 3: Interned with Restaurant Associates through NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program and earned a full-time job after impressing her supervisors with her skills, commitment, and work ethic

Now she’s up at 5am, commuting from the Bronx to Manhattan, clocking in at 6:30am, working overtime, and earning her first truly healthy paycheck, doing work she loves.

CHEF (Culinary Health Education Force) is FamilyCook’s workforce development program for older youth, blending culinary training, leadership development, mentorship, and real-world job placement. Dairelin’s journey is exactly what CHEF is designed to make possible.

Her story inspired an entire room of young people—and reminds us what’s possible when talent meets opportunity. 💛
