The Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP) is a youth leadership program for Asian Pacific American (APA) youth in New York City. In 2004, the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) started the Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP), a youth leadership program for Asian Pacific American (APA) youth in New York City. CACF originally sta

rted ASAP to create a space where APA high school students could engage in discussions about their experiences and the issues they see in their communities, learn the skills needed to create systems-wide change on these issues, and lead their own policy advocacy campaigns. Since then, ASAP Youth Leaders have worked on various campaigns around race-based bullying and harassment, mental health, language access for English Language Learners, culturally competent school counselors, ethnic studies, and more. ASAP envisions a world with empowered, self-aware, & engaged APA youth, where their voices are not just heard, but incorporated into decisions that matter to their lives.
