J CHEN PROJECT is a contemporary dance co based in NYC, with the mission to explore identity within the human experience through creation, performance and more.. Since 2008, J CHEN PROJECT has presented performances throughout NYC and nationwide at venues including Ailey Citigroup Theater, Dixon Place, Peridance, Dumbo Dance Festival, Green Space and more. In the press, J CHEN PROJECT has had feat

ures on SinoVision TV, World Journal, BLEEP Magazine and more, while also receiving glowing reviews from The Examiner, InfiniteBody and The DancEnthusiast. Jessica Chen, Artistic Director of J CHEN PROJECT, is an inspirational speaker, international teacher and a social entrepreneur. She has taught master classes, workshops and seminars across the globe and feels truly honored to be chosen as a TEDx and keynote speaker on numerous occasions including Cornell University’s Asian Women in Leadership conference. Her work has been featured world wide including the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai and the Amnesty International Arts Festival in Washington D.C. Chen’s choreography has been presented at New York Live Arts Studio Series, Brooklyn Museum of Art, HERE Arts Center, Ars Nova and has received support from organizations including Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Fund for Creative Communities, New York University Asian Pacific American Institute and Asian American Arts Alliance. Commissioned by Dixon Place over the past two years, she curated “TRANSLATE (the voices of dance)” a festival for emerging choreographers, continuing the partnership with dates in place for next spring 2015.

🌟 What an incredible day performing “AAPI Heroes” for 300+ amazing students in Chinatown NYC! The energy in that room was absolutely electric. Their enthusiasm lifted all of us.

We had a magical Lunar New Year celebration with our performance of AAPI HEROES at ! 🧧✨

Our stunning dancers and mesmerizing Guest Artist cellist .e.evan took audiences on an enchanting journey!

We received special honors from NYS Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar , presented by her Deputy Chief of Staff . Thank you Assemblywoman for your incredible work to strengthen the AANHPI community!

Our production team .yam and board members were also honored!
