June is PTSD Awareness Month.

For many, trauma is a moment in time.

For thousands of Israelis, it is something they carry every day.

Since October 7, countless soldiers, survivors, first responders, and families have faced unimaginable loss, fear, and uncertainty. While some wounds are visible, others remain hidden long after the headlines fade.

PTSD can affect sleep, relationships, work, and everyday life. But with the right support, healing is possible.

At Israel Friends, we are committed to helping provide access to trauma care and recovery programs that offer hope, healing, and a path forward for those impacted by war and terror.

This month, we honor the resilience of those living with trauma and stand with them on their journey toward healing.

Capt. Dr. Ori Yosef Silvester, a physician with the Givati Brigade’s Shaked Battalion from Tel Aviv, was killed while serving in southern Lebanon.

Dr. Ori was struck by a Hezbollah FPV (first-person view) drone attack—one of the increasingly deadly threats facing Israeli soldiers today. In the same incident, multiple IDF officers and soldiers were wounded and evacuated for medical treatment.

A dedicated physician, officer, and protector, Dr. Ori devoted his life to caring for others, even in the most dangerous circumstances.

May his memory be a blessing. 🕯️

The IDF announced that Staff Sgt. Adam Tzarfati, 20, from Rosh HaAyin, was killed in a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon.

Adam served in the Maglan Unit of the Commando Brigade, dedicating himself to the defense of Israel and its people.

We send our deepest condolences and love to his family, friends, and all who knew him during this heartbreaking time.

May his memory be a blessing.

As Jewish American Heritage Month comes to a close, we celebrate not only where we came from, but where we’re going ✡️🇺🇸

From every background, every family story, and every corner of the world, Jewish journeys continue to come together through shared history, resilience, pride, and community.

We carry the generations before us while continuing to build the future ahead– with strength, dignity, and hope.

Proud of our past. Even prouder of our future.

The IDF announced that Staff Sergeant Michael Tyukin, 21, from Ashkelon, a soldier in the Givati Reconnaissance Battalion (846th), Givati Brigade, fell in combat in southern Lebanon.

Michael made aliyah from Ukraine with his mother six years ago and was an only child.

A young man who chose to build his future in Israel, Michael gave his life defending the people and country he called home.

We send our deepest condolences, love, and strength to his mother, family, friends, and all who knew him during this heartbreaking time.

May his memory be a blessing. 🕯️

In Israel today, the challenge isn’t just awareness.
It’s understanding how trauma actually shows up.

Not always in obvious ways.
Not always in moments you expect.

It can look like exhaustion.
Irritability.
Silence.
Disconnection.

If we want to truly support those living through it, we have to start by recognizing it.

This month, we’re focusing on exactly that.

The IDF announced the death of Sgt. Rotem Yanai, 20, from Givat Ada, who was killed by an explosive drone launched by Hezbollah during operational activity in northern Israel.

Rotem served as a service conditions NCO in the 435th Battalion of the Givati Brigade– a young woman who dedicated herself to supporting the soldiers around her during one of Israel’s most difficult times.

May her memory be a blessing.

We are heartbroken by the loss of Alex Miller, 23, a former IDF combat soldier originally from the United States.

An only child, Alex received special permission to enlist as a lone soldier. In 2022, he was wounded in a terror attack while serving in Judea and Samaria. Despite undergoing a difficult rehabilitation process, he chose to return to military service alongside his unit.

Since October 7, he also endured the loss of a close friend in combat and, like many soldiers, struggled with post-traumatic stress connected to his service.

Alex tragically took his own life after a painful struggle with PTSD.

The end of service is not the end of the fight– many soldiers and veterans continue to face the lasting effects of trauma long after they return home.

May his memory be a blessing.

We want to hear what comes to mind first for you 👇

Jewish identity looks different for everyone and that’s what makes it beautiful.

The memories, traditions, people, values, and stories we carry all become part of something bigger.

They walked out of Nova alive.
But not whole.

For many survivors, the music stopped — but the trauma didn’t. What they saw, heard, and ran through didn’t stay there. It followed them home.

PTSD, flashbacks, anxiety, silence, fear — invisible scars from a day that should never have happened.

Survival didn’t end on October 7. It continues every day after.

This is why we keep fighting for their mental health.
For care. For healing. For support that lasts.
