The Partnership To End Homelessness

The Partnership To End Homelessness Ending homelessness by preventing it.

The Partnership To End Homelessness, previously known as The Partnership for the Homeless, seeks to end homelessness by preventing it. The Partnership supports clients by providing:

▪ Housing and eviction prevention programming – including rental and financial assistance, legal referrals, property owner mediation, tenant education and supports and relocation services when necessary to ensure safe

ty in cases of domestic violence.
▪ Crisis intervention - including access to the benefits for which clients are eligible, such as income supports, legal services, housing vouchers, and emergency shelter and food.
▪ Health and well-being – including culturally-appropriate and trauma-informed individual counseling, facilitated group counseling and peer support groups.
▪ Education access – including family supports to keep children housed and intervening to ensure families in shelter receive placements near their children’ schools to disrupt intergenerational homelessness.
▪ Changing the public narrative – including advocacy, public education, and media partnerships to illustrate homelessness as a preventable public health crisis that is primarily hurting women and children of color. No one should face homelessness for being who they are.

As Mental Health Awareness month comes to a close and Pride month nears, we recognize that New Yorkers with mental health struggles and LBGTQIA+ New Yorkers are likely to be navigating complex trauma that can lead to difficulties with daily duties that would secure them in their homes long-term. You can support vulnerable LGBTQIA+ neighbors like Hala stay housed and safe to ensure mental well-being.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Give to Gain, forging gender equality through collaboration and generosity. Your gifts to The Partnership this past year made a difference for more than 2,000 households across NYC: of those, 83% are headed by women. Their homes are now a safe foundation as they build the next generation in hope for gender equality.

The cusp of Black History Month and Women’s History Month is a reminder that women of color and their families are the face of, and bear the brunt of, New York City homelessness. With support from you, their homelessness is preventable.

Join us in recognizing Black and Women’s History Months by considering a donation to keep others like Safara in their homes and/or by sharing Safara’s story with your community to increase awareness about the power of prevention to end homelessness: https://partnershiptoendhomelessness.org/honoring-black-and-womens-history-months/

Your call to 311 will save a life...

I hope you are keeping warm in these freezing temperatures. As you may know, 10 of our city neighbors have died on NYC streets in the past few days, a majority of whom were experiencing homelessness. Please share the information below to save lives in NYC this week.

In NYC, a “Code Blue” policy is in effect when the temperature drops to 32 degrees or below, including wind-chill, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.

Call 311 to report someone in need or to locate a shelter.

Call 911 if you suspect someone is suffering from hypothermia or frostbite or otherwise needs immediate care.
