Distributing digital devices to schools in Jamaica

It's been a busy 2 weeks. I went to Jamaica to help off load a 40 ft. container and distribute school supplies to 15 schools across 9 parishes spearheaded by Cornwall College old Boys Association's Mid-Atlantic Chapter. I am immensely proud and grateful to the men of the Mid Atlantic chapter for always collaborating with Having Purpose so together we can have greater impact.

Having Purpose also donated supplies to Denbigh High School, Clarendon College and Cornwall College.
Cornwall College was provided with saws as well to help remove debris, keyboards, etc.

Principal Ms. Daley of Denbigh High School in Clarendon, Jamaica sent us pictures of the computer labs showing the 30+ all in one computers that www.havingpurpose.org donated to them a few months ago.
Now she is requesting 35 wifi extenders so they improve service across their campus to increase access for students. We invite you to donate to purchase these ubiquiti wifi extender products each cost around $100 if we can get them used.

Last weekend on April 18, 2026 Cornwall College Old Boys Associate Mid-Atlantic chapter aka CCOBAMA, JAMLEO and other volunteers rolled up their sleeves to pack a container of school supplies to sent to Jamaica. Having Purpose Inc. and Vacationing with Purpose donated 4 cordless saws to help schools continue to eliminate debris still stacked up from the hurricane, 20 wifi extenders for Clarendon College, 30 keyboards and 20 power cords to Cornwall.
All parties collaborating to improve education.

We want to send down more furniture and desks and chairs, so if you know of a school that is changing out their desks and chairs we are looking to support school in Jamaica who are still in need of furniture to replace items damaged by the hurricane. Especially if you live in Florida CCOBAMA this summer hopes to ship 10+ containers of school furniture to schools in need.

We got a note from the computer teacher a few days ago from the village of Atanve in Ghana showing that the laptops that we gave them a few years ago are still being used to support students.
As always they need some more

Each classroom has STEAM pics and they are working on putting a world map on the back wall so that students can learn geography.

UPDATE

HAVING PURPOSE ACADEMY, TASSO ISLAND SCHOOL PROJECT...

Our Kindergarten school block on Tasso Island is almost completed, the classrooms, teacher's lounge and tuckshop were build, the desks and benches for the classrooms were build and primed for painting. The painters are working on the interior walls. The 100 panes for the windows are being made.

The final leg of the projects is to put in the solar energy because the island does not have electricity, and we need brightly lit classroom for our students and teachers for optimal learning.

Then we need to put the STEAM murals on the walls and buy the black boards, white boards and other materials for the classrooms.

OUR COLLABORATION WITH VIP FOR JAMAICA HURRICANE RELIEF

Jamaica is beginning a long road to recovery after the devastation of Hurricane Melissa. Many families—especially in rural communities—are facing destroyed homes, disrupted livelihoods, and urgent needs.

Several schools that we help in the past had their computer labs damaged and need their digital devices replaced. Update on the Sierra Leone Tasso Island Project

We set out to build a small kindergarten school block of 3 classrooms, a teacher lounge and a tuckshop for the students.
The builders are almost done they should be done by this weekend. And then the painters should be next...
Followed by the carpenter building the school's desks and benches for the 100 students that the 3 classrooms will serve.

We anticipate that this project will be done by the end of December and we will do a ribbon cutting in January 2026.

Update on Tanzania Bathroom Project

We are making progress, we thought by now the project would be completed but there were some stressors.....according to Peace Matunda Director Kaaya.
As you can see the walls were rendered and some painting done and the recessed toilets have been installed so the students can use it. We need to finish the plumbing work for the sinks, the urinals and install the poly tanks.
Hopefully all will be done before Christmas.

Once again we are using one of Pablo Hoiletts plays to fundraise to put digital devices and other equipment into schools in Jamaica.

Mr. Hoilett is a play writer, actor and director and he is an esteem member of Having Purpose Entertainment Advisory Board. He is using his play which is a romantic comedy "Fantasy Joe" as his give back to the org. He and his crew Owen 'Blakka' Ellis, Dinagail McCalla and Rosie Murray are rolling up their sleeves volunteering their talents so that we can use the play to fundraiser for the school projects in Jamaica. This 1st production is in collaboration with Capital Initiative Inc. and the West Indies Social Club in Connecticut. We will be promoting more productions across NY, NJ, FL, NC and GA as soon as we finalize venues.

We are inviting all Jamaica schools with alumni associations across the USA to partner with us to bring more productions like this to fundraiser for their respective schools, using our stages as benefit plays.

UPDATE ON SIERRA LEONE SCHOOL PROJECT
Building the school block on Tasso Island in Sierra Leone. We continue to make progress on the building of 3 classrooms, teacher's lounge and additional blocks were made to complete the tuckshop (snack shop) walls, and blocks are being made to complete the opening near the roof.
The doors were installed, as well as the windows in the classrooms, they continue to work on the floors....progress is being name.

Next part of the project is to start buying supplies for the classrooms and to put in the solar energy that will be required to power the classroom. Tasso Island which is off the mainland of Sierra Leone has no electricity, so the building must be powered by solar energy. We want each classroom to support 30 to 45 students.
