The President, Officers and members of the Belize Ex-Services League of New York extends their condolences to family of the Smith Brothers Musical Troubadors of Rancho Dolores, Belize District, Belize; on the passing of their Patriarchal Brother Mr Valentine Smith. Many friends and family knew him as Vallan Smith. Mr Valentine Smith served as a member of the Belize Police Department in the decades of the 60s and 70s before retirement and migrating to the United States of America. In many ways he was a source of inspiration for his younger brothers: Cipriano aka Cyril, Eric, Ervin, Eddie and Carl Smith, who all served as Police Officers in Belize, they are by default all Ex-Servicemen according to the Laws of Belize πŸ‡§πŸ‡Ώ.. I recall seeing Cousin Vallan Smith as a Mounted Cavalry Police when he was stationed in Bermudian Landing in the 60s as the Police Officer in charge of all the Villages in Belize District west of the Belize River Valley. He would ride through Willows Bank, to C**k Loft, St Paul's and Big Falls. I am sure on those mounted patrols he would also visit his home village of Rancho Dolores. I was just a child but my memory is prestine and faultless.. I first met cousin Vallan as an adult when his mother Mrs Eunice Smith nee Flowers passed away. Rest in Peace in the presence of Almighty God, Aunt Eunice... Vallan and I are first Cousin, my Father the late Joseph Roca Sr is his Uncle, my Dad and his Mom were Brother and Sister....
May his spirit and the spirits of all our faithful departed brothers and sisters rest in God's eternal presence and peace...
It is mandated by laws and protocol that on the passing of an Ex-Services League personnel, we must signal their home going ritual by reciting the Exortation and Doxology in their honor. ( He served Belize πŸ‡§πŸ‡Ώ with honor and distinction)...
The Exortation:
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun 🌞 and in the morning πŸŒ„; we will remember them..
The Doxology:
Praise God from whom all blessings flows
Praise πŸ‘ God all creatures here below.
Praise God above ye heavenly host.
Praise πŸ‘ Father πŸ‘¨ Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™...

His untimely departure has left his estranged wife Mrs Edna Baptist, his children: Joyce, Kirk, Roydell Baptist, his grand children, many relatives and friends including the Hon Gilroy Usher of Port Loyola Constituency in Belize City.. May his spirit and the spirits of all our faithful departed brothers and sisters rest in God's eternal presence and peace..
