Dr. Ian Levy, NYC native and professor of School Counselling at the University of Massachusetts, piloted the development, implementation, and evaluation of a Hip Hop based counseling framework in urban schools. He is presenting one of the plenary speeches at on "The School Counselor's Role in Promoting Youth Voice: Hip Hop and Spoken Word Therapy". NYS TESOL

This conference provides our colleagues an opportunity to show us their student centered approach with a focus on promoting and nurturing the student's’ identity within the institution, the classroom or at home.

Submit your proposals online at

40 min workshop: formal presentation of original research or pedagogical practices. This type of presentation makes contribution to either theory or practice. (40 minutes)

The theme for this year’s almost completely student-led conference is Culturally Relevant Pedagogy.
