“Those who have suffered understand suffering and therefore extend their hand.” - Patti Smith
MEANS is Movement. We focus on ongoing human rights issues: women’s rights, worker’s rights, forced labor, human trafficking, child soldiering/ marriage/prostitution, et al. Adamant support for those who are subjugated, wherever they are. MEANS provides media platforms to profile these matters and campai
gns, as well as those creatives who give a damn. Think peace and social justice through alternative arts. And that's where things get interesting...
MEANS is the Resolute - Les Guerriers Implacable. We highlight human rights efforts born of tenacious minds and fierce resolve. MEANS is community at the edges: artists, outliers, gypsies, punks, dreamers, subversives, and general troublemakers. Left field for sure, but frankly our voice is a better voice. We’re better with a brush. "Any person who aspires, presumes, or feels the calling to be an artist has a built-in sense of duty.” That’s another one from P. We like her. She doesn't fit into elevator pitches either. This quote says it. Artists are explorers of the human condition - of humanity. And who better to represent? Feel something? Do something! And why the subjugated? Why these issues? Because the opportunity to live through art is a testament to our privileged and all too infrequent liberty. And knowing this, it is unacceptable that others are denied even the most basic liberties: those of expression, of self determination, of peace. These are the stories to be told. And MEANS is how we tell them. We roll up our sleeves. We go to work.
