Attention scouts not going whitewater rafting this weekend, Mrs. Toro is going to have archery for kids to try at this Friday's Assumption Springfest. I'm probably going to do bike repair. Can others come and do skill demonstrations or lead some kind of simple and fun activities? We need this to build up our membership.

Troop 199 welcomes boys and girls 5th grade to 11th grade to come to our open house Tuesday, January 27, 2026 7:30-9pm at Jennings School, 31 Palm Drive in Fairfield. Scouting is as vibrant and valuable in the world today as it was when it as founded in 1907. Young people can pick up all kinds of skills they don't learn in school or at home. Self-reliance and self-direction outside of the classroom, all kinds of career-forward skills, character and strength in mind, body and soul. Even if you're busy with sports and school, the troop welcomes you to make it when you can. Be part of a group that gives so much back to the Fairfield community. Great story on Scouting for Food from NPR on Thursday.

During the holiday season, young Scouts across the country work to collect food items for local pantries. It's an annual event, called Scouting for Food, that's more than 40 years old.
