Nebula Dance Lab was founded in 2010 under the Artistic Direction of Devyn Duex to provide an incubator for creative art in motion- allowing the professional company of artists in modern and contemporary dance the opportunity to experiment, push boundaries, and create new language in dance through physical exploration. Nebula has quickly garnered the attention of the industry showcasing their work
from intimate venues to large theaters, outreach to concerts. As a producer Nebula launched the Indy Award Winning festival, HHII Dance Festival in 2015 showcasing 30+ works from 20+ companies annually featuring a diverse range of styles over 3 performance dates, plus Opening Night Apogee awards honoring arts education featuring performances by studios, youth companies and young artists, and free public performances through Open Spaces. An electrifying opportunity for the community to experience a broad range of professional dance works all under one roof over a 4-day exhilarating festival format. We are gratified to give back to the community that supports us through our outreach program, which provides performances and movement workshops and a Kids Matinee Program busing in students for a live theater experience, thanks in partnership with Center Stage Theater, The Lobero Fund, Towbes Performing Arts Fund, Leni Fe Bland Foundation, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation. As we look forward we remain focused on strengthening the sustainability of our organization so that we may continue to provide dance arts to the community through our performances, outreach program, and training opportunities. Nebula from Latin: "cloud" is an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen gas and plasma. Nebulae often form star-forming regions, in these regions the formations of gas, dust and other materials 'clump' together to form larger masses, which attract further matter, and eventually will become big enough to form stars. The remaining materials are then believed to form planets, and other planetary system objects.
