🎓Get to know Genesis! 🎓 Sending positive vibes as she prepares for the beginning of her future as she transitions to Brown University! Wishing you all the success in your future endeavors, Genesis! 🌟

Genesis has a big dream: to research potential preventions and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her passion lies in exploring the overlap between these conditions and investigating possible links between disorders like ADHD and diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Inspired by her own experience with a late ADHD diagnosis, Genesis hopes her work will encourage others to prioritize their mental health alongside their physical health.

Genesis has demonstrated strong leadership and academic excellence throughout her journey. She has served as a Supplemental Instructor for Brain Behavior and Statistics and has consistently earned a place on the Dean’s List for fall 2022, spring 2023, and fall 2023. Her dedication to ethical research is evident in her certifications in Human Subjects Research for Undergraduate Students Basic I and Conflict of Interest I, as well as ServSafe.
Beyond her academic achievements, Genesis is an active volunteer, contributing as a cook for community brunch fundraisers. Her diverse skills also extend to the culinary arts and jewelry design, showcasing her creativity and commitment to serving her community.

Get to know Paula! 🎓 Sending positive vibes as she prepares for her upward transition to Mount Holyoke College! Wishing you all the success in your future endeavors, Paula!

Paula’s Big Dream is to work with and support immigrant communities, aiming to reform immigration pathways and assist families and individuals navigating the US higher education system. She is passionate about aiding immigrants in overcoming legal complexities and seeks to collaborate with embassies to better support these communities. Paula envisions a career within the immigration law system or in partnership with embassies to dismantle barriers to immigration and empower the Latinx community with resources and opportunities. Beyond academia, she is eager to collaborate with experts in the field, work with the Peace Corps, and inspire others through research, conferences, and grassroots initiatives worldwide.

Paula has demonstrated strong leadership and dedication to her goals. She is a Jack Kent Cooke semifinalist for 2024 and has earned certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through the E-Cornell Student Passport Program. She volunteers with organizations such as Love Holds Life, Children Cancer Society, and Big Brother Sister Foundation. Academically, she made the Dean’s List for fall 2023 and received the Hudson is Home and Cooperative Business Educational Program Awards. Additionally, Paula participated in the Hispanic State Parade and spoke at the HACU 37th Annual Conference in Chicago.

Joely’s Big Dream is to pursue a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology with a focus on preserving the stories of Afro-Latin and Caribbean cultures while unraveling the threads of oppression. Her academic journey has fueled a passion for researching and amplifying the voices of communities marginalized by oppressive systems, aiming to challenge dominant narratives and foster radical change. Joely envisions a future where healing and inclusivity prevail, and where every voice is celebrated.

Joely has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to her goals. She is a Jack Kent Cooke semifinalist for 2024 and co-founded the Bronx Soil Restorative Project to educate others about restoring healthy soil. She has also been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilan and Hostelling International Travel Scholarships, which reflect her dedication to both academic excellence and community engagement. Outside of academics, Joely excels as a martial artist, specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and as a choir vocalist.

Rose’s Big Dream is to establish an organization for LGBTQ+ children that offers therapy, recreation, shelter, and a safe space for at-risk youth to explore their identities. To achieve this goal, she plans to pursue a PhD in Child Psychology. Rose is deeply committed to helping children and at-risk youth navigate day-to-day challenges such as staying in school and accessing nutritious food, as well as advocating for broader policy changes to support these efforts. As a q***r woman who has personally experienced being a homeless unaccompanied youth, Rose is dedicated to creating more equitable environments for q***r youth.

Rose has demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic excellence. She is a Jack Kent Cooke semifinalist for 2024 and has consistently made the Dean’s List from fall 2021 to fall 2023. She serves as an Assistant Runner with the Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program and volunteers with the IMPACT Peer Mentoring Program, reflecting her commitment to supporting and mentoring others.

Precious’ Big Dream is to establish a non-profit or work within a higher education institution to mentor underrepresented students and support their success, with a focus on aiding community college students through the transfer admissions process. Her own community college experience, coupled with her journey as a KLP Scholar, ignited her passion for addressing social inequities by empowering community college students. She is enthusiastic about engaging in academic research and internship experiences post-transfer, and eager to explore diverse avenues for making a difference.

Precious has demonstrated exceptional leadership and academic excellence. She is a Jack Kent Cooke semifinalist for 2024 and has consistently made the President’s List from fall 2022 to fall 2023. She created and organized the PTK College Project, “Making the Smart Choice,” and presented her research, “Women in Religion: A Comparison of the Vestal Virgins and Roman Catholic Nuns of the Middle Ages,” at a campus-wide symposium. Additionally, she co-organized the Crochet for Ukraine volunteer fundraiser, showcasing her commitment to both local and global communities.
