Given the newest guidelines provided by the CDC regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the start of the Flying Manes spring program will be postponed until NYC schools reopen. We remain dependent on the advice of the medical professionals who assess risk and provide recommendations to organizations like ours. The NYC school schedule will determine any further program delays (https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/health-and-wellness/coronavirus-update). We will determine make-up opportunities for canceled lesson days when we have more information about our new start date.
The health of our participants, volunteers, and staff are our top priority. It is a difficult decision to delay the start of our program, but we believe that we best serve our community at this point by helping to prevent the spread of the virus.
Recently, a novel (new) coronavirus was detected in thousands of people worldwide, primarily in China. A "novel coronavirus" is a strain that has not been previously found in humans.
