Dyckman Farmhouse Museum

Dyckman Farmhouse Museum Manhattan's Last Farmhouse! OPEN Friday: 12-4pm
Saturday: 10am-4pm in 1915, family descendants purchased the farmhouse, restored it and donated it to the city.

The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum is a visual treat for everyone who looks up and sees it perched above Broadway at 204th Street. The Dutch Colonial style farmhouse was built on this site by William Dyckman c. 1784 and was originally part of several hundred acres of farmland owned by the family. It has been open to the public since 1916. Today, nestled in a small garden, the farmhouse is an extraordinary reminder of early Manhattan and an important part of its diverse Inwood neighborhood.

Through a guided discussion with our exhibiting artist Jhanique Lovejoy, participants will explore the role of family photographs in Caribbean and Black diasporic archival traditions, oral histories, and intergenerational preservation.

Moving from discussion to practice, participants will then engage directly with archival tools and methods by digitizing personal photographs, negatives, and ephemera from their own family archives with a high-resolution scanner provided at the workshop!

πŸ“– Participants will also have the opportunity to browse curated examples of Caribbean archival history and preservation practices in order to develop a foundational knowledge of archival processes, digitization, and creating archival ephemera.

- 1 8x10 photo and 2 4x6 or 5x7 photos from your family archive OR

Are you ready to meet our Education and Community Intern? Say hello to Cami Castrillon!

"My name is Camila, or Cami, Castrillon (they/them), and I grew up in Inwood! I recently received my BA from Sarah Lawrence College with concentrations in Latin American and Q***r Studies. In my time at SLC, I often focused my work in gender and sexuality studies with a special focus on the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.

Some of my favorite college projects include an installation of a live-sized, maximalist shower inspired by Dominican carnival imagery and party ephemera, an analysis and historical tracing of reggaetΓ³n and its racial and gendered cultural impact, and most recently, an original play based in the musical and q***r cultures of Dominican-Haitian immigrants in 1970s NYC. I'm so excited to bring my experience and interests to my new position here at the DFM and re-engage with my home community!"

Welcome to the DFM community, Cami πŸ’

It's time for you to meet our Summer 2026 interns πŸ₯³ Starting with our Development and Community Engagement Intern Laura Polglase!

"My name is Laura Polglase and I am a museum studies graduate student at the Cooperstown Graduate Program at SUNY Oneonta. I have a passion for accessible and engaging public history! As the summer development intern, I am particularly interested in the ways museum development work intersects with storytelling, helping supporters feel connected to the impact of their contributions.

I wanted to intern at Dyckman Farmhouse Museum because I admire the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum’s commitment to community-centered programming and diverse social history."

Welcome to the DFM community, Laura πŸ’
