This summer, Columbia/Barnard Hillel hosted Summer Welcome Events across the country, welcoming the newest members of our community before they even set foot on campus.

From San Francisco and Los Angeles to Washington, DC, New York City, and Newton, incoming students and their families had the chance to connect with each other, ask questions of current students and alumni, and get to know our professional staff, building connections that will continue throughout their college experience.

Thank you to all who joined. We're so excited to welcome the Class of 2030 and transfer students to the Columbia/Barnard Hillel community!

Columbia/Barnard Hillel staff and student E-Board members hosted our annual Leadership Appreciation Dinner to celebrate the student leaders who make our community thrive. We honored group board members, Peer Engagement Interns, Welcome Weekend leaders, and many others whose leadership and dedication shaped this year.

We recently celebrated the conclusion of another successful year of the Alexander Jewish Leadership Institute (AJLI) with a dinner highlighting the work and growth of this year’s cohort.

Designed to support and empower student leaders, AJLI brings together rising juniors and seniors for a yearlong experience focused on leadership development, Jewish learning, and community engagement. Here's a glimpse into the evening's presentations and celebrations!

More than 175 students, alumni, and community members joined JQ (Columbia/Barnard Hillel's Jewish LGBTQ+ community) and the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies for a powerful screening of Sabbath Queen, followed by a moving conversation between director Sandi DuBowski and the film’s subject, Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie.

The event invited attendees into a thoughtful exploration of identity, tradition, and transformation. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of meaningful dialogue.

This past April, Columbia/Barnard Hillel was proud to co-sponsor a special evening with former hostage Omer Shem Tov, along with the Jewish Student Association, Chabad at Columbia University, and many other student groups and organizations. Omer shared his story of being held in Gaza for 505 days and how he leaned on his faith to survive. We were honored to hear his story and deeply admire his strength and resilience.

Last night, Columbia/Barnard Hillel welcomed students, alumni, parents, and friends to Low Library for our Annual Seixas Dinner!

We were proud to honor Ester Fuchs, Nicholas Lemann, and David Schizer, Co-Chairs of the Task Force on Antisemitism at Columbia University, with the Gershom Mendes Seixas Award, and David Fine with the Young Leadership Award.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a meaningful and wonderful evening.
