While the holidays are a time of joy and togetherness, they can also bring increased stress for domestic violence survivors and their families. Financial pressures, heightened family expectations, and the emotional weight of the season can all intensify existing tensions. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, please call The NYC Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-621-HOPE (4673), or in an emergency call 911.
The end of the government shutdown didn’t end the concerns for many of OHFF’s clients, who are constantly on the edge of food insecurity. As such, we are so grateful to Reisenbach Philanthropies for providing us with an emergency food assistance grant. Food is a basic necessity that no one should have to do without, and this assistance will go a long way in supporting our clients’ immediate needs and future aspirations.
Please help us wish our EMP Students well as they prepare to head back to campus for the start of the Spring semester. We hope everyone had a good and restful Winter break, and that they’re all ready for more late nighters, papers and educational breakthroughs. Special shout out to our soon to be graduating Seniors! May this be your best semester yet!
We are always in need of mentors to work one on one with our EMP students. If you or someone you know would make a great support system to an aspiring college student who has experienced foster care, please contact us at [email protected]
