As a part of our 2026 Day in the Life program, Charli Scalf, daughter of NYPD Detective Jeffrey Scalf (Ultimate Sacrifice: 4/13/2020), recently got to spend the day with the NYPD Mounted Unit in Manhattan. She learned firsthand what it’s like to work with the unit’s officers and horses, including their daily care and training. Special thanks to the New York Police Department for making this experience possible!
