The application form to EAMA's sponsorship for the 2021-2022 Residency Match is now available at: https://forms.gle/3ZtcZskcE3jYufBC6

The deadline to submit your documents is Friday, August 20th, 2021.

Required documents:
1. CV.
2. USMLE score report and ECFMG certificate.
3. Graduation certificate.
4. A statement of intent, up to 300 words, detailing why the applicant wishes to pursue a residency and how he/she will benefit from the sponsorship, academic or financial.
5. At least two academic references and their contact details.
6. A working personal email address and cell phone number.

The program will provide financial aid for select applicants and mentorship for all applicants.

Selection criteria*:
1. Egyptian nationals.
2. ECFMG certification.
3. USMLE Step 1 and 2 scores > 230.
4. Graduated from medical school with an overall grade of at least "Good".
5. Graduation within the last 3 years is preferred, calculated from the end of house officer year for Egyptian graduates. (Emtiyaz year).
6. Holding a valid US visa, green card, or citizenship
7. Preference is given to applicants with US clinical or research experience and/or extra-circular activities.

If you think you meet the aforementioned criteria please prepare the following documents:
1. CV.

3. Graduation certificate.
4. A statement of intent, up to 300 words, detailing why the applicant wishes to pursue a residency and how he/she will benefit from the sponsorship; academic or financial.

* Meeting the pre-specified criteria does NOT guarantee acceptance into the programs.
* Applicants considered for any of the sponsorship programs will be interviewed over the phone.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Sponsorship Program:

- Who is paying into the EAMA Sponsorship Fund, and why?

EAMA is a non profit, physician driven, scientific organization based in the United States. Our members and supporters donate their time as well as money to give back to Egypt by facilitating clinical and research opportunities in the US for promising Egyptian physicians and scientists. EAMA is not affiliated with any governmental organizations at this point.

- How many applicants is EAMA usually sponsor?

It's variable every season. Financially, we typically sponsor 5-10 applicants per season. We sponsor a larger number of applicants academically.

- I sent the required paperwork, now what?

The Match Sponsorship Program application submission window is open until September 10, 2019. Between September 10 and 20, we will be interviewing eligible applicants who meet pre-specified criteria.

- When does EAMA make its final selection from among the applicants?

Final selection will be completed by September 25th, 2019.

- When and how am I expected to pay the loan back?

You are expected to pay the loan back in the form of installments within 2 years of starting your residency in the US. There is no interest on the loan.

- What if I received the loan and did not match?

We would not be sponsoring you if we did not think you have a high likelihood of matching. In the unfortunate event that you do not match, you are not obliged to return the money, though you are encouraged to do so when feasible.

- Is EAMA sponsoring only Match applicants?

No. We are sponsoring promising physicians and students applying to the USMLE steps, as well as intriguing research projects accepted in international conferences or peer-reviewed journals.
