Village Playwrights

Village Playwrights The Village Playwrights is NYC's oldest le***an and gay playwright collective. This allows each writer to find his or her voice as a creative individual.

The Village Playwrights was founded out of the need of Le***an and Gay writers to have a venue in which they could present their works without fear of being harshly criticized or dismissed because of their sexual orientation or gender identification. The Village Playwrights meet at the LGBT Center in New York on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month (8 pm) and welcome all playwrights, screenwri

ters, directors and actors to participate in their programs. The Village Playwrights take pride in critiquing works solely on their merit and not on their subject matter. To speak freely is to be empowered.

Ever wondered what would happen if you took that heartbreaker ex back? "Different At Night" by Merryn Johns explores that very notion. Influenced by cult horror classics such as "Vampyres" and "The Hunger," Merryn's play explores the dark side of love using the metaphor of the le***an vampire.

Come see "Different At Night" as part of ***rScareVI: Seven Halloween-themed plays at The Center, 208 W.13th Street at 7pm. $10 suggested admission.
