The Black & Blue Foundation was founded in November of 2011 during “Domestic Violence Month” by Celebrity Hip Hop Publicist, Lynn K. Hobson felt it necessary to create a foundation where men and women can come together to raise awareness towards a common cause. The Black & Blue Foundation was started to raise awareness about Domestic Violence. The Foundation provides support to women of all cultur

es who are coming out of an abusive relationship. Through counseling, monthly workshops, and events, the Foundation provides a social setting and an alternative outlet for women.

“I noticed that there was a void in the Entertainment Industry where the knowledge of Domestic Violence stats were scarce”, states Bo Jones. “This Foundation was established so that we could leverage our relationships to spread the word and encourage battered women to seek help”. Jones is the Brother and Manager to Platinum Rap Recording Artist, Lil Kim.

“There are thousands of women who are in abusive relationships and they are in need of a Foundation where they can come, get inspired, and motivated to move on from the life changing experience”, states Ms. The Black & Blue Foundation will additionally provide some “light” legal counseling, advice on how to proceed with the procurement of a Final Restraining Order, provide recommendations for a crisis situation, point women in the right direction, and provide opportunities that will be uplifting and encouraging.

“When I was attacked, I was just pushed through the system with no support. My Attacker violated the Temporary Restraining Order because the court system had not served him properly and the whole ordeal was discouraging and draining. So I just want to provide an oasis, a platform for women to get some support and direction”, states Ms. Hobson. “The DV stats state that more than 55% of women who have been physically abused never contacted any organizations, shelter, or police”. This Foundation was named for the beating and bruises Ms. Hobson’s Best Friend, Trina Stackhouse wrote a poem in her self-published book, The Point: Observations of Life in 2001 and one particular poem entitled, “Domestic” inspired the Foundation’s name:

DOMESTIC
Her words cut like glass. His love was Black & Blue.
-Trina Stackhouse

Ms. Hobson and Mr. Jones will spearhead a slew of Fundraisers for the Foundation in 2012. “Bowl Against Abuse”, “Loving Yourself Day at Salon Rocks in Englewood, NJ”; and “The Black & Blue Ball” are just a few of the annual event properties that will be established and produced.
