As we mark the anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS)🚺 join the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP), the Permanent Mission of Switzerland🇨🇭 to the United Nations in New York, the Permanent Mission of Australia 🇦🇺 to the United Nations in New York, and the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) 🇺🇳 for an important discussion on how artificial intelligence can serve peace rather than reinforce gender inequalities.

During , Claudette Segura, GNWP’s Researcher & Peacebuilding Officer for Latin America, joined the event “Words Matter: Language, Representation and the Future of Global Governance,” hosted by GWL Voices, where she highlighted that:

🚫 In 2025, nearly two-thirds of the UNSCRs analyzed did not mention women at all.
📊 Only 21% of referenced women in leadership roles, while binding language on women and gender remained rare.
🕊️ Women peacebuilders must be recognized and represented as experts, political actors, and partners in shaping international policy.

Because the language we use, and whose voices we include, shapes whose expertise and leadership are recognized.

What would feminist leadership at the UN look like? 🕊️

For Jasmin Nario-Galace, GNWP's CEO 🟣, feminist leadership means changing how power is exercised, whose voices are heard, and how we understand security. We need a Secretary-General who doesn't just manage crises, but transforms the systems that create them.

📣 This , GNWP calls for the first woman who will and invest in diplomacy, prevention, care, and locally led solutions.
