A Rohingya refugee student speaks on behalf of his peers, calling for greater access to higher education for young refugees.

Today marks nine years since the Rohingya refugee crisis escalated in 2017, when an influx of nearly 750,000 refugees fleeing Myanmar arrived in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

Since then, BRAC has reached hundreds of thousands of refugee students with early childhood, primary, and secondary level education in the Rohingya refugee camps. However, access to higher education remains limited.

Rimon Barua built an enterprise out of what the garment industry leaves behind, working with his community to turn waste into opportunity. That's what youth action looks like.

Meet Mama, Emanuella and Isatu—mentors and youth advocates in Liberia and Sierra Leone. They’re making sure girls and young women in their communities have safe spaces to build confidence and life skills.

Partnering with brilliant young mentors like them, we have reached more than 260,000 girls and young women across Africa through more than 2,000 safe spaces or youth clubs.

At these clubs, girls and young women receive social and emotional support and training in life skills, sexual and reproductive health, preventing gender-based violence, and more.

This International Youth Day, we're celebrating the power of the girls and young women we partner with every day.
