We are proud to announce our 1st Annual 5K run and Fun Walk on September 19, 2015 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF.org), a worthy organization dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of children and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF). A genetic disorder that affects 1 in 3,000 children, NF causes tumors, affe
cts vision and hearing, and can lead to other serious health concerns. Hannah Moreno, Robert Owenby and Anna Lee Weber are just 3 of the many children living with NF whose stories have inspired Little Heroes of NJ to partner with CTF. Hannah is 10 years old, she loves monkeys, inline skating, ice skating, and swimming with her life jacket. Her NF affects her cognitive skills and social skills with kids her own age. She tells her mother often that she is lonely and wishes for a friend. .Diagnosed with NF at the age of two, fiveyearold Robert Owenby makes the 700mile trek to Philadelphia twice a year to see specialists who treat the tumor behind his right eye and monitor his vision. Robert has undergone numerous invasive procedures to diagnose and control his tumor. Anna Lee Weber was diagnosed with a brain tumor and NF at three years of age. She has undergone 64 rounds of chemotherapy, and although she has finished her treatment, she continues to live with the disorder. Hannah, Robert and Anna are doing well, and their courage and strength are an inspiration to us all. Please keep these three wonderful children and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they continue on their journeys with NF. We hope that you will consider forming a team. This team does not have to race at the event, if you do not wish. This will be your fundraising team. Upon registration you will receive a personal fundraising page for your team and each individual on it. There you can earn incentives and compete for a fundraising team award including the MASSIVE Best Fundraising Team Trophy, to display. Not only will forming this team give your group exposure and bragging rights, but best of all you will be making a difference. With your support we hope to raise money that will increase the number of clinical trials for drug treatments for NF. We are confident that continued support for CTF will lead to a cure for our heroes, as well as other heroes worldwide who suffer from this progressive and debilitating disease.
