Dignidad!

Make the Road NY, 104-19 Roosevelt Ave, Corona, NY

May 2 marks the passing of both Augusto Boal, (March 16, 1931 - May 2, 2008) and Paulo Freire (September 19, 1921 - May 2, 1997). We honor the legacy of Boal and Freire, providing us with tools to sustain hope and work toward liberation.

"The real goal of the arsenal of the Theatre of the Oppressed is to contribute to the preparation of the future, rather than waiting for it to happen." From "The Rainbow of Desire" by Augusto Boal.

"As an ontological need, hope needs practice in order to become historical concreteness." From "Pedagogy of Hope" by Paulo Freire.

The Instituto Augusto Boal 's youtube channel has a video clip of the discussion with Augusto Boal, Paulo Freire and Doug Paterson, from the Pedagogy & Theatre of the Oppressed, Inc. conference in 1996. Visit and watch!
