āļø Introducing Adoptable Senior: Long-Term Project! āļø
Project is a 12-year-old Husset (Husky/Basset) mix. Neglected and starved by his previous owner, he was eventually surrendered to Babylon Animal Shelter. He weighed a measly 23 lbs - less than half his ideal body weight, and was debilitated by chronic ear infection and osteoarthritis.
Despite his poor condition, Project quickly found his way into the shelter volunteersā hearts. They advocated for his safety and soon enough, he became a Rain or Shine foster dog. With ongoing medical care that began at the shelter, heās recovering quickly and continues to gain weight (35 lbs currently).
In his fostersā words:
āThe goodest boy is doing phenomenally!Ā
We started out the journey by making sure to give him space and letting him come to us.Ā He had some very understandable boundaries. But even his communication aroundĀ those were gentle.
Chris got the first tail wag, and mine was soon to follow. He leans into pets, follows us from room to room and LOVES going for sniff walks around the neighborhood.
He is one of the calmest, gentlest, sweetest pups we haveĀ ever met. He is curious about everyone and every dog we pass. The times when a dog has barked at him, he would stop and look at them as if to say, āI canātĀ imagine what the matter could be, we could be pals if you change your mind.ā
He is the perfect companion - anyone who decides to make him their forever will be very lucky!ā
