Elijah McClain should be alive today. Officers Woodyard, Rosenblatt, and Roedema were not held responsible for his murder. There was not enough evidence that the officers had broken the law when they used force on McClain. His last words can be heard on the body cam footage of one of the police officers involved. On June 25, 2020 Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed an executive order directing the state’s attorney general to reopen the investigation into McClain’s death. Please read on ways you can help and let’s continue to shine light on the victims whose lives were lost by police brutality.
Rest in Power Elijah McClain 🖤

This was our President’s response to the protests that occurred after the tragic death of George Floyd. These protests are not just for his death but to fight against the injustices the Black community continue to face especially during a pandemic. We have lost too many lives, the damage is done. Over the past few days, disturbing news has taken over. George Floyd was a Black American man who died on Monday May 25th, 2020 after white Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for at least seven minutes while he was handcuffed and lying facedown on the road. Here are some things you could do to help fight for justice for Floyd and his family and most importantly to help support the black community during these hard times. It is our responsibility as non-black Latinx individuals to shed light on what has happened and what we as a community can do to support. Please we need your support now more than ever.

We will fight alongside you. We demand justice for George Floyd and his family ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

We are yet again horrified by the acts committed this weekend in the United States as a gunman opened fire at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, killing 20 people and over 47 injured and in less than a day after a shooting spree in Dayton, Ohio, leaving 10 dead - 16 injured. The gunman wrote a 2,300-word “manifesto” prior to the El Paso terrorist attack citing a “Hispanic invasion of Texas” and suggests the need of “getting rid” of immigrants in order to make “our” way of life more sustainable.
Let us not forget this directed hatred comes from the spread of white nationalistic- supremacy means. There is this constant fear of our mothers, sisters, brothers, our own selves, walking down the street, going to the supermarket, to the mall without being killed simply because we are Latinx. That we have to fear speaking our own language and expressing our culture in any way. This is a major issue on many fronts. Having the President of the U.S insisting that we need a stronger immigration reform to address the killing of Hispanic-Americans is disgusting. I hope all marginalized communities can stand together during these times that our adversaries attempt to demean our culture, religion, heritage even if it is coming directly from our “representatives in office.”

Keep familias together

🎨: .beam ・・・
Immigrant families cross the border to seek a better life, period. America is justifying the separation of families as “biblical”. The government is ripping children from their mothers and putting children in cages. This is an actual law, and it’s cruel and inhuman. History will show who are the real criminals. In the meantime, we need to end families separation and support Latinx communities. Para mi gente, estamos contigo y la lucha sigue ✊🏾✊🏽✊🏿
