The Dotted Elk Theatre Company A non-profit theatre company founded by Director Ben Hawthorne and Playwright Gregory Paul Thomas.

The Dotted Elk is a non-profit organization in NYC dedicated to bringing the actual play process back to theatre, exploring what makes us uncomfortable in life and space. Founded by Ben Hawthorne and Gregory Paul Thomas during their time together at The City College of New York, both would like to acknowledge the driving forces behind their collaboration, Dotty and Poppa.

We're looking for the following roles:
Jessica- Lead Role Latina 20-25 Spunky, wise; an old soul in a young body. Newly out and proud le***an in a committed relationship. Very family oriented. Has been promoted from assistant to boss at her job.
Henry- Lead Role Any Ethnicity 30-35 a true outspoken New Yorker. Tells it like it is. But underneath his gruff exterior lies a very warm and tender man. Think young Louie C. K.
Rebecca- Supporting Role Any Ethnicity 25-35 Social worker. Her goal in life is to help those who can’t help themselves. All business at work, but as a bisexual woman, her personal life is always full of interesting situations.
Amanda- Supporting Role Any Ethnicity 25-35 Single mother trying to co-parent with her recently out of the closet high school sweetheart
Anthony- Supporting Role Mixed race (Spanish preferably) 11-14 pre teen boy learning to accept his father’s recent coming out
Bry- Supporting Role Caucasian 26-30 Minor league baseball player struck down at the height of his potential when he becomes infected with HIV
George- Supporting Role Caucasian 50-65 Retired high-powered executive whose career and marriage have both disintegrated
Gillian- Supporting Role Caucasian 50-65 Suburban housewife who has a tense relationship with both her husband and 30 year old son
Curtis – Supporting Role 40-50 African American upwardly mobile father who’s coping with the birth of his teenage son’s child
Debbie - Supporting Role 40-50 African American upwardly mobile mother who’s coping with the birth of his teenage son’s child
Nate Jr.- Caucasian 1-2 years old

Bullies (3)- Any Ethnicity 14-17 typical schoolyard bullies
Client #1- Any Ethnicity 20+
Client at Pilates studio

Christian Bravo took a seat in the director's chair at the Thespis Theatre Festival, Rebeka Avendano assistant directed a charmingly hilarious piece at City College, and Sean Bennett Geoghan completed a run of an award-winning Fringe NYC show.
