Is AI here to stay? We don’t know.
As AI is rapidly developing, it clouds the future into a murky, unknown mess.
Can AI understand cultural and linguistic nuance? What about bias and privacy? What should a teacher's role look like in an increasingly automated classroom? The list of questions goes on infinitely.
We don’t have an answer to all of them.
We do, however, attempt to address SOME of them.
We have consulted a range of researchers and educators in the education sector, pushing them to ponder upon these difficult questions. Their insights pave a path for us to look beyond the conventional war between humans and AI. Instead, we must learn how these powerful - but flawed - tools can be understood critically and used responsibly.
More importantly, they highlight that in language education, the constant would always be the values that underlie the sector: equity, diversity and justice.
