CHOREOGRAPHERS FOR COMMON THREADS VOL. 2

is a UK based choreographer and performer blending performance theatre and dance.

Sweet Time transforms the women’s bathroom into a charged site of refuge, rebellion, and fleeting intimacy. Set within the familiar ritual of a night out, the work captures the oscillation between urgency and escape, the stolen moments in a locked stall, the mirror-side reinventions, the bonds formed between strangers. Blending dance-theatre with sharp social observation, Sweet Time explores the bathroom as a space of performance and collective care: where identities are adjusted, confidences are exchanged, advice is offered freely, and solidarity emerges in unexpected ways. Humorous, recognisable, and tender, the piece honours the temporary communities that form behind closed doors, before the music calls everyone back to the dance floor.

doyle is a UK based dancer and choreographer exploring contemporary and hip hop fusion.

Blowing Smoke is a new hip-hop theatre work exploring the media’s power to shape and redirect public perception. Blending contemporary dance with the intensity and expressive force of krump, the performance examines how narratives are constructed and consumed in an information-saturated world. Visceral, politically charged, and physically driven, Blowing Smoke invites audiences to question what they are shown—and how readily they accept it.

with Embodied

Clara is a Swedish choreographer, dancer, and performer. Her choreographic style is rooted in curiosity about what makes us human, unfolding through somatic improvisation and embodied choreographic research.

Embodied asks what remains when language falls away and invites you to
witness how movement can reveal something beyond words. Through
improvisation, breath, and shared attention, the dancers explore how bodily
knowledge supports non-verbal communication of emotions, kinaesthetic
empathy, and the body as a vessel for emotional sensations.

Happy birthday month FZD…you’re officially FIVE

Somehow in between all the craziness of operating this company, I without fail, forget our legal bday. Every year. And if any of you know me, it’s probably because I’m doing about 100 things at one time and trying to run FZD amidst all of it!

So…happy fifth to us.

I wanted to highlight the in between moments this year. Not what goes on stage, not the perfected posters and visuals, but where the real work actually happens. With the people.

Introducing The Gathering Ground.

This idea has been living in my brain and in the background this year while we listened, learned, and let the idea grow at a pace that felt sustainable.

Building community takes care, and we wanted to do it right.

The freelance dance world can often feel like one of the most isolating professions in our city. As artists, we spend our careers creating work that fosters connection in the communities we serve—yet our own dance community rarely receives that same care.

The Gathering Ground was created to change that.

Focused on the belief that creativity thrives in the community, The Gathering Ground is a place where new ideas spark, collaborators meet, and artists can feel supported. This platform serves as a central hub for opportunities and gatherings, all circled around sustaining our dance community.

Imagine how our community might evolve if we actively supported one another. Imagine how our industry could shift with a single, reliable space to find opportunities, resources, and each other.

Five years ago, FZD began with a simple idea: that dance could be more than performance. It could be a space for care, connection, and creativity — with wellbeing at its core.

Since then, I’ve stumbled, learned, and grown. The company has crossed oceans, and along the way I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most inspiring artists a director could hope for.

Today, I’m proud to officially re-launch our organisation.

We are rooted in movement, built on mentorship, and held up by community — something I’ve been dreaming of for a long time.

Artists need support, not only in their creative work but also in their everyday lives. So how can we expand our reach? How can we offer care through our art in a meaningful way?

Here’s how: by creating a platform for performance, guidance, and connection. Through our new programs and pillars, we’re opening up spaces for all artists.

If you’re feeling stuck, searching for connection, or eager to share a new idea, we’d love to hear from you.
